Bringing a global chef’s vision to two cities rich in culture and community

Chef Marcus Samuelsson’s culinary legacy spans continents, but each of his restaurants were designed in response to the spirit of its location. From Newark to Atlanta, Esme Collective partnered with Samuelsson’s team to help shape two distinct concepts—each reflecting the rhythm, history, and identity of its city.

In Newark, Marcus B&P reimagined the Swedish idea of “BP” (Back Pocket) as an everyday neighborhood gathering place—where guests can enjoy a drink at the bar or take home locally sourced provisions. In Atlanta, Marcus Bar & Grille brings bold flavors and wood-fired cooking to the Old Fourth Ward, honoring the area’s deep cultural and musical heritage.

Impact
We developed a sustainable brand system that could flex across markets by blending our cultural insight with Marcus Samuelsson’s vision to create restaurants that feel authentic to the cities they serve.
